Non-Fouling Evaporators for Hazardous Waste Management

Rinheat non-fouling evaporator is designed to concentrate difficult heavy fouling waste waters which have to be incinerated.

Spent lubricating oil is used as circulating fluid into which a samll amount of the waste water is mixed. The heated oil - water mixture is flashed in a vacuum vessel. Practically all water is evaporated, whereas impurities remain in oil. Part of the circulating oil is continuously sent to the incinerator to prevent the oil slurry becoming too thick.

The basic idea is to increase incineration capacity by decreasing the amount of water fed into the incinerator.

Benefits

  • High availability because shutdowns for cleaning are not needed
  • Very little water into the incinerator
  • Condensate clean enough to be sent to the sewer

Key features

  • Spent lubricating oil used as transport media for the impurities
  • Oil prevents fouling of the heating surface
  • Vacuum operation keeps the operating temperature at a lower level

Options

  • Decanter for process condensate separates light organic compounds
  • Foul condensate from the decanter can be stripped to make it clean enough for the sewer
