The good heat transfer is due to countercurrent flow arrangement, where the liquor flows downwards inside the tubes and steam upwards outside the tubes.
In addition, the patented Grid Baffle construction gives minimum internal pressure drop and good support for the tubes. Condensate flows freely on tubes in contact with upwards flowing vapor. This results in excellent secondary condensate segregation, methanol rich foul condensate and good quality secondary condensate.
